A LOOK AT ARAM'S HISTORY

Aram MELKONYAN received his Bachelor’s degree from the Yerevan State University, Armenia, in 2018. After working as a senior laborant at the “Institute of Applied Problems of Physics of National Academy of Sciences of Republic of Armenia” for three years he moved to France in 2020 to study in the Master of PPN (Physics, Photonics & Nanotechnology) in Dijon. After finishing it in 2022, he started his PhD in the Hubert Curien lab under supervision of Jean-Philippe COLOMBIER and Elena KACHAN, on the Quicksilica project.
Aram’s hobbies are movies, music and extreme sports.

ARAM'S MOTIVATION FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

Physics has no bounds, that’s why during my career as a physicist I change my field from one to another - it gives me the sweet opportunity to discover new things and not be restrained in a single narrow area. I was intrigued by my project as soon as I read the description of it. It aims to understand how laser excitations affect the complex topology of the amorphous network in silica glass and lead to highly-localized changes of the physical properties which are explored in the quest to push the limits of the resolution and efficiency of ultrafast laser nanostructuring in silica glass. It might unveil a variety of applications up to data-storage in glass.
