The Graduate School

The Manutech-SLEIGHT graduate school’s objective is to develop research, innovation and training activities in the domains of light (laser) - surfaces engineering with both fundamental and societal issued applications. We train graduate students through and for research, from the Master to the PhD level and guide them into the discovering of new disciplines and the development of multidisciplinary projects.

We then support our 8 research laboratories with the implementation of research and innovation projects that respond to the major challenges of the 21st century: energy efficiency, security for citizens, improved health and wellbeing, enhancement of the digital society and industrial renewal... The Graduate School gather researchers and engineers from our labs and PhD and master students enrolled in our courses.

SLEIGHT: light-surfaces engineering – health and society

Our training and research programmes focus on surface engineering by ultrafast laser, covering the fields of optics-photonics, surface science, imaging, computer science and biology. Our MSc programmes are designed to cover the fundamentals in optics, photonics, physics, mathematics, computer science and bioengineering and train them through tutorials and research projects.

International framework

The international dimension is an essential asset of the Manutech-SLEIGHT Graduate School. At the master level, we offer 4 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, as well as courses given by international guest lecturers. The Graduate School also encourages students to do internships and/or semesters abroad. The international recognition of the researchers involved in the Graduate School enables them to develop collaborative projects in conjunction with leading European and international academic laboratories and private partners. Students benefit from this dynamic from the moment they enter the Master's programme until their doctoral project.
