Maxence GUILLON
A LOOK AT MAXENCE'S BACKGROUND
Maxence graduated from Polytech Lyon engineering school, with a specialty in material science, in September 2020. After working in Michelin's R&D department on the characterization of metallic reinforcements in tires, she realised she wanted to work in research and was attracted to the level of knwoledge, rigour and specialisation offered by the PhD course.
MAXENCE'S MOTIVATION FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
After working a few months in an R&D lab, I realized I wanted to pursue a research course. The high level of a PhD interested me. I have also an experimentation profile: I would like to develop my experience in the characterisation of materials (X-Ray diffraction, microscopy, potentiometric…) and I am interested in simulation, a domain I studied during my engineering course and which is an important part of R&D today. That’s why choosing a project combining experimentation and simulation was important to me. Working today on metallic additive manufacturing is very stimulating: this new technology and approach is very ambitious and has many applications, especially in Industry.
