Fayad ALI BANNA
A LOOK AT FAYAD'S BACKGROUND
Fayad ALI BANNA obtained his engineering degree in computer science from École Polytechnique de Tunisie in 2022. He then joined the Laboratoire Hubert Curien as a PhD student, specializing in computer science under the supervision of Marc SEBBAN, Jean-Phillipe COLOMBIER , and Rémi EMONET. His research explores self-organization in laser matter interactions, focusing on predicting nanostructures formation triggered by ultrashort laser. By leveraging machine learning in physics, he aims to uncover new physical insights and develop surrogate models to replace traditional tools for studying laser-driven phenomena.
Outside of his academic work, Fayad enjoys painting and playing the piano as creative outlets.

FAYAD'S MOTIVATION FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
My decision to pursue a PhD is driven by a deep curiosity and passion for advancing knowledge in computer science. From the beginning of my academic journey at École Polytechnique de Tunisie, I have been captivated by the transformative potential of AI in reshaping how we interact with technology and understand the world. At the Laboratoire Hubert Curien, I specialize in studying self-organization in lasermatter interactions using machine learning tools, which is part of my broader exploration at the intersection of AI and computer science. Through my research, I aim to leverage AI-driven approaches to deepen our understanding of complex physical phenomena, such as nanostructure formation triggered by ultrashort laser pulses. I aspire to make meaningful contributions to these fields, advancing our understanding of self-organized patterns and their potential real-life applications, such as in advanced material design.
