A large number of current students were represented by their fellow student Vanina Amblas, who gave a vibrant account of the quality of student life in Saint-Etienne.
Pierre Chavel, the driving force behind the development of the branch, was congratulated for his work on behalf of IOGS. His commitment to the development of the school has led him to head the Educational Committe of our Graduate School, thus supervising the training of our annual 250 students.
In the evening, Alain Aspect, a researcher at IOGS (Charles Fabry lab), gave a brilliant presentation of his research into quantum entanglement, for which he was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics, to a packed auditorium of over 300 people.

Bonus of this celbration day: Alexandre Bebon, 3rd year student engineer, went to the roof and took a photo of the Sun with the IOGS Lunt telescope (60 mm) equipped with a highly selective Fabry-Pérot etalon (Delta Lambda = 0.07 nm) and his Canon APN. With one year to go before the maximum of the solar cycle, the Sun is very active and numerous prominences are visible.
Happy Birthday to the IOGS' Saint-Etienne branch! :)
