After having obtained an engineering degree at CPE-Lyon and an MSc in Image Science at Jean Monnet University in 2001, Mathieu Hébert joined the Peripheral Systems Laboratory at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) from 2002 to 2009, where he conducted his research on optical modelling and colour reproduction. He obtained his PhD in 2006. He is now a Professor at Jean Monnet University and the Institut d'Optique Graduate School. He has published over 100 papers on light-matter interaction in coloured materials or biological tissues and has supervised 17 PhD candidates.
