ManoUS - Research project

Intravascular manometry by vector Doppler ultrasound

ABSTRACT

The thesis project is part of the assessment of the severity of vascular narrowing (stenosis). The measurement of pressure loss due to vascular stenosis is usually performed by catheterisation, an invasive medical procedure consisting of introducing a thin tube into the blood flow. The objective of this thesis is therefore to develop and experimentally validate a non-invasive ultrasound technique, compatible with clinical requirements, for the measurement of pressure loss in vascular stenosis. For this purpose, relative pressures will be estimated from blood velocity vector fields.
